We are delighted to welcome three local artists to the Showcase for November, December & January.
Exhibiting work are Marna Alberts, Keri Lowe, and David Oates.
Marna Alberts is a local surface pattern designer. Marna has recently completed her Masters degree in textile Design, specialising in the combination of digital and screen printing processes.
Keri Lowe began her journey with textiles and felting, but has since turned her hands to ceramics, a practice she has enjoyed for over 30 years.
David Oates is a children’s book illustrator and author. David uses Gelli plate printing to create powerful, textured and colourful backgrounds, and uses ink and gouache to add illustrations or artwork on top.

A month long project celebrating drawing in its many forms.
Including an exhibition of drawings in the upstairs gallery at designermakers21, and a ‘Grand Draw’ of 100 Jacqui Petrie artworks to raise funds for the Save Our Story appeal. The exhibition will be accompanied by five Saturdays of drawing events open to the public, culminating with an exciting ‘Draw-Off’ on Saturday 25th November (evening event) between two local high school 6th Form Students, who will draw collaboratively on a large scale in our gallery space.

Saturday 21st October:
Members and invited artists demonstrate different drawing techniques such as charcoal, pencil, pen & ink, with ‘have a go’ sessions.
Demonstration on the ground floor by visually impaired artist Megan Welton.
Saturday 28th October:
Book Launch of ‘Wolf and Bear’ by illustrator and author Kate Rolfe. Kate will be running children’s drawing workshops throughout the day.
Diss based illustrator Suzanne Breeze demonstrates her drawing style, and offers a chance to contribute to a joint drawing.

Life Drawing with clothed model, drop-in drawing sessions 11am-2pm.
Guest Artist, Alona Markina gives a talk and demonstration of her quirky drawing style, and an opportunity to draw people in a group.
Saturday 11th November:
Pyrography demonstration by artists David and Becky Whatley.
More mixed drawing techniques with members and invited artists.

Our third open exhibition, Summer expo ’23 features the work of over 60 artists, working across many disciplines. The show is a celebration of local talent and creativity.
Open until 26th August, Thursday to Saturday 10am-5pm.


A fantastic exhibition of work by A-Level Art Students from Diss High School. The students have designed a poster, and helped curate the show.
Come along to the Private View on Thursday 22nd June 4-6pm, refreshments provided.


An exiting exhibition showcasing the best of East Anglian ceramics, alongside paintings by Martin Laurance.
Featuring work by Ray Auker, John Chipperfield, Pam Schomberg, Carol Pask, Jo Arnold, Sue Maufe, Lois Thirkettle, Rob Rutterford, Rob Wheeler, Sally Thomas, Clare Goodman, Keeley Chapman, Karen Risby & Tom Thompson.
The exhibition, in The Gallery Upstairs at designermakers21, runs from 6th-29th July, and is open every Thursday to Saturday 10am-5pm. Running in conjunction is Ceramics in Action on Saturday 8th July – a day of drop in workshops and demonstrations by exhibiting artists.

The next Showcase will run throughout May, June and July. We are excited to welcome three local artists to the showcase exhibition space, which is located on the first floor at designermakers21.
A collection of paintings and drawings of birds by Martin Gibbons, Felted vessels by Connie Flynn, and Cathie Fiddling returns with her collection of Mosaics.
Visit the Showcase from the 2nd February during our opening hours Thursday to Saturday 10am-5pm.




On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the inception of designermakers21, a visual narrative mapping the evolution of an extraordinary craft centre.
The exhibition runs from Thursday 4th- Saturday 27th May, in the Gallery Upstairs at designermakers21.


Art, Weaving, Woodwork and Textiles made in the workshops at Thornage Hall are on show from 6th to 29th April, during our opening hours Thursday to Saturday 10am-5pm.
Dynamic, creative workshops for adults with supported needs have enabled this exemplary exhibition of skilled handwork and imaginative flair.
The artists and makers are delighted to exhibit this range of original work and welcome all visitors to see their products for sale, and to find out more about Thornage Hall independent Living.
