Creativity and Wellbeing Week Workshops | Saturday 24th May

designermakers21 is taking part in the national Creativity and Wellbeing Week on Saturday 24th May. Our members are hosting some wonderful low-cost workshops, where you can spend a couple of hours creating in a friendly, relaxed studio environment.

‘Make and decorate a pinch pot mug’ with Kate Welton

£10.00 pp

Saturday 24th May 11:00am-1:00pm

Spend a relaxing 2hrs creating a clay mug, using the ‘pinch pot’ technique. Learn how to form your mug, and add a handle. Add decoration to your mug using stamps and coloured decorating slips (liquid clay and a ceramic pigment)

Your mug will be fired, and glazed by Kate, ready to collect from designermakers21 approximately 3 weeks after the workshop.

Colour, Emotion and Creativity with Janine Oxley

£15.00 pp

Saturday 24th May 11:00am-1:30pm

A creative session playing with words and collage to explore how colours can reflect and prompt emotion. Participants will be able to freely create through this process of exploration without the pressure to produce a final piece. Any work can be taken home to develop further. A selection of materials will be provided – including pens/pastels/paint for mark making, plain paper, fabric, scissors, glue. Please feel free to bring your own materials for personal use or to share with others in the group. It would be great if participants brought with them an object or item of clothing (or wear one!)in their favourite colour.

£10.00 pp

Saturday 24th May 2:30pm – 4:30pm

Come along and create your own hand-made concertina sketchbook. Experiment with mark- making and collage on different papers including watercolour, tissue, textured and vintage papers. Go home with a new sketchbook to start a personal creative journey.

Artist’s Salon with Essex Cultural Diversity Project at designermakers21 | Saturday 7th September 11am -3.30pm

Essex Cultural Diversity Project runs a programme of Salons, which are networking events offering professional support, insight and training to creative practitioners, professionals and organisations working in diversity, in collaboration with partners across the East of England.

The next Salon takes place on Saturday 7 September hosted by designermakers21 in Diss and provides an opportunity for creative practitioners in the area, and those engaged with their communities who want to develop creative projects, to bring their ideas for projects, programmes and collaborations, and access some advice and information sharing in a supportive environment. We will discuss making applications to Arts Council England and other funders, and discuss any relevant local opportunities.

Programme

The programme for the day will include a session on applying for Arts Council England Project Grants. This includes:

  • A presentation on the Arts Council England application process and time for questions and discussion. We can also look at other funding sources.
  • We will be able to take ideas and concepts for projects and discuss them and consider how to approach the application process.
  • We can discuss any local issues, context or opportunities (bring anything to the session you want to discuss)
  • Lunch will be provided (with time for informal discussion and networking)

Who Should Attend?

The event will be aimed at emerging or more established artists/arts organisations, or representatives from organisations who want to develop creative projects. Ideally based in South Norfolk or the wider East region, attendees may have had little or no prior experience of accessing funding support for Culturally Diverse work in the region.
