Join the Repair Cafe!

Repair Cafe is a neighbourhood initiative that promotes repair as an alternative to tossing things out. Residents can bring their broken items to fix them on the spot with the help of voluntary repairers. Diss has become a location for a Repair Cafe and could use more handy volunteers in the area.

Would you like to be a voluntary repairer?

Repair Cafe Diss is looking for local residents with different skills who can be present as repair experts during the Repair Cafe meetings.

The team are especially looking for people who are handy with:

  • Clothing/Textile
  • Bicycles
  • Electrical Applicances
  • Furniture/Wooden Objects
  • Computers
  • Social Media

Want to know more?

Come along to designermakers21 on the first Saturday of every month between 10.30am-1.30pm, and see what the Repair Cafe can do for you, and what you can do for it!

designermakers21, the home of designermakersCIO, is holding a Charity Auction, to help with the ‘Save Our Story’ fundraising Appeal.

On Thursday 6th July 2023, we are hosting a Charity Auction run by Mike Sarson from TW Gaze

We are fortunate to have offers of work from Antony Gormley and Laurence Edwards as well as a Henry Moore limited edition lithograph. This is not solely an ‘art’ auction however and other items and ‘experiences’ are also welcome. For example, ‘A raku Experience for 2’ and a weekend in a luxury self-catering house have also been donated.

We are looking for further donations such as art works – framed or unframed – and experiences, with all money raised going to our appeal.

If you wish to donate a piece of your work, please would you include the following to assist in the auction process:
1. A guide to value.

2. A back story (e.g., inspiration/subject matter/process)

3. A mini biog.

If you are donating something else – an experience for example – please send a mini description and image (where appropriate) to: info@designermakersCIO.org.uk
