About Poppy
Poppy is currently undertaking an Incubator Fixed Term Studio Residency here at designermakers21.
“I make work that explores the female body as an autonomous zone. My practice spans painting, printmaking, sculpture, wearable art and live performance. Public space and architecture in relation to the body are key themes. My work has been presented internationally, and featured in The New York Times, The Guardian, The Independent, ArtReview, BBC 2 & Radio 4.
Motherhood has activated a focus on the politics of the maternal body within the rural Suffolk landscape in which I live with my two young daughters. Prints, sculpture and a live performance are currently being developed for an upcoming exhibition with sculptor Laurence Edwards at Wyken Vineyards.
I also founded CONVERGE – a platform for performance artists based in this region – and run this alongside Laurie Green and Ruth Biene. CONVERGE was initially supported by The Live Art Development Agency; and currently by Norwich Arts Centre and designermakers21. CONVERGE is a place for artists to connect through their work, exchange ideas and cross-pollinate, in venues across Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex”
