What will I do?

Join us for a workshop with local artist Fay Jones, and explore the wonderful world of green wood with an introduction to spoon carving. A great workshop to get used to working with using simple hand tools, and building confidence with carving wood. Suitable for beginners and people wishing to build on their own experience.

The workshop will cover different kinds of wood and where they come from, their pros and cons for carving, the different planes of wood and grain patterns that can be achieved. Saw and split your own spoon blank, before Fay guides you through the process of carving using simple hand tools. Learn how to finish your spoon when dry, with or without sandpaper, and which oils are suitable. You will be given a “woody goody bag” with sandpaper and oil to take home.
