With over 30 years as a freelance illustrator Jon has a wide and experienced publishing record, including illustrating multiple children’s books (picture and educational) , in addition to packaging, greetings cards, apps and posters for many publishers including BBC children’s magazines (20 years), Sainsburys, Tesco, Paperchase, thortful, and the Early Learning Centre, amongst many others. Jon is also a keen photographer and from 2021-2024 worked for Friar House, a well established Antique Jewellery business in Battle photographing jewellery and the modelling of.
Since 2009 Jon has been a regular lecturer in Design & illustration at East Sussex Coast College degree course Hastings and the University of Brighton, Design for Digital Media and illustration. In 2018 Jon returned to his own education and in 2020 gained a Distinction for his Masters Degree in Sequential design and Illustration at the University of Brighton. The result, entitled ‘A Life in Objects’ was a curated photographic art book about his late father in law’s life and relationship to his possessions and was featured in a four page article in Amateur Photographer magazine in 2019.
Since 2016 Jon turned away from Children’s publishing and developed a successful series of architectural and landscape prints of iconic subjects on the South Coast. Now newly relocated to the Norfolk/Suffolk border Jon is developing new work based on the area, both photographically and in painting and illustration.
