As a humanitarian worker, I recently came to making art as a life affirming action during these turbulent times. My paintings are based on places and landscapes I have encountered on my travels and walks with husband and dog in the Norfolk countryside.
I am Sri Lankan, and have lived and worked in a number of different countries, so tropical gardens and foliage often make their way into my pieces. I paint gardens, ponds and fields and fill them with collages of surrealist birds and creatures. I like to add playful details which reveal themselves upon closer viewing. I use colour, pattern and a variety of materials to create microcosms, which I hope bring viewers moments of curiosity and delight.
