Jayne Stansfeld

textile artist
studio – upstairs main building

Catch Jayne in our upstairs guest member studio (next to mosaic artist Joy Holden) until the end of May 25. Her yarn based  work is colour and fun filled!

Jayne is developing a series of crocheted, and knitted pieces celebrating “The Elements” as part of a group show with Textile Art Group Suffolk at The Pond gallery in July, and as part of Suffolk open studios in June 2025.

“I’ve been drawn to textiles for as long as I can remember. I think there is something magical about the transformation of raw materials from threads and yards into two and three dimensions.
My work often begins by playing with ideas, with materials l, with colour or something else. I like to spin and dye my own threads or to print fabrics and knit or crochet. I love the interactions of light and the connections and conversations, my work initiates something such as birds, mythological or mediaeval symbolism reoccur.
My work is evolving but thing I’m currently obsessed with is freeform crochet and stranded colour knitting.”
