The Body Part Art Show – Travelling Sealed Bid Auction Exhibition | 2nd-12th December 2021

posted in: Events Archive | 0

A Travelling Sealed Bid Auction Exhibition, with all proceeds going to the Nature and Nurture mental health support group.

Curator Lou Hines discusses the ideas behind the exhibition –

“After a visit to a mannequin graveyard I decided to gather a group of volunteers to create a piece of art from their chosen body part. These pieces will be displayed in four venues over 6 weeks.

Alongside will run a sealed bid auction. You can bid by placing a bidding slip in the box that will travel with the pieces or by sending a private message to the Facebook page “The Body Part Art Show 2021”. The online bid must contain the name of your chosen piece, your maximum bid and a contact number. At the end of the six weeks we will crack the box open, look at the online bids and the highest offer on each item will win it.

All proceeds will go to the Nature and Nurture mental health support group for young people. Not only are you supporting mental health in your community it’s also a unique opportunity to own an individual piece of art whilst re using something that would otherwise go to landfill. Just in time to treat yourself or a loved on for Christmas.”

Visit the exhibition in the Upstairs Gallery at designermakers21 Thursday to Saturday 9am-5pm

Fay Jones Solo Exhibition

An opportunity to see this wonderful show for an extra week – the exhibition has been extended until Saturday 9th October 2021.

Fay Jones is pleased to present her first solo show, in the Upstairs Gallery at designermakers21. The exhibition will be open from Thursday 9th September during gallery hours Thurs-Sat 10am to 5pm.

Breckland is a place of long mysteries and small wonders. Ignoring modern boundaries it is a strongly defined landscape that allows for deep thought and contemplation. By keen observation and many exploratory wanderings, the lands wild undercurrents become apparent.

Using the rich natural resources of this stark environment, the many notional fragments are now collected into a whole. Made in wood, bark, chalk and bone, with nods to the ways of earlier times by using experimentally cast bronze, wild plant fibres and natural dyes.”
