I was born in Coventry and graduated in 2013 with a degree in MA Textile Design from Norwich University of the Arts.
My work involves using traditional basketry techniques with inspiration coming from radial symmetry in nature. The structures reflect the materiality of the fibres with sustainability and renewability key to the work. My mainstay fibres are jute, manila hemp, flax, sisal and Norfolk reed.
Hand weaving, twining, binding and coiling are the methods I use to create the structures which evolve slowly as the work progresses, sometimes taking an alternative route the the one initially envisaged.
